With the help of sponsors, partners, dedicated staff and the support of fans around the world, the Repsol Honda Team are prepared and ready to tackle the new challenges of racing.
Almost 150 days since last turning a wheel, the Repsol Honda Team arrive in Jerez for the start of a new MotoGP season. Global events mean it will be a season like no other and presents new challenges for teams, riders and fans to overcome. Loyal sponsors, proud partners and determined staff have all allowed the Repsol Honda Team to once again aim for the MotoGP World Championship.
Sponsors and partners have come together to supply not only the Repsol Honda Team, but many parts of the world with equipment and resources to help battle Covid-19. REPSOL converted the Repsol Technology Lab, where the race fuel for the Honda RC213V is developed, to create hydroalcoholic gel for cleaning in hospitals and homes throughout Spain.
HONDA itself implemented a number of initiatives around the world. In Japan, Honda produced face shields for use by medical professionals and donated custom vehicles to help in the safe transpiration of Covid-19 patients. European arms of Honda also assisted in the creation of personal protective equipment (PPE) through the use of their production facilities as well as providing Honda PCX scooters in England to aid with pharmaceutical deliveries. PT ASTRA Honda in Indonesia looked to help their community by delivering medical supplies to hospitals, sanitation products to various local communities and even helped effected customers with food delivers.
OAKLEY and PUIG HI-TECH PARTS have supplied the team with protective eyewear and protective screens to ensure that riders, mechanics and engineers can work in a safe environment. All mechanics and engineers will wear Oakley SIM Frame 3.0 PPE glasses while working during the Grands Prix and all shared working environments at the circuit and at Repsol Honda HQ have been fitted with Puig screens to help ensure maximum protection even while working inside.
SNAP-ON provided tools to aid the production of respiratory equipment in a number of locations while SC-PROJECT EXHAUSTS used their array of 3D printers to create bioplastic valves for use in hospital ventilators in Northern Italy. International clothing brand PULL&BEAR inside the Inditex Group have helped on worldwide logistics networks to assist in the distribution of sanitary materials, delivering more than 150 million medical protective units and breathers. ESTRELLA GALICIA 0,0 meanwhile donated to the Spanish Federation of Food Banks and redesigned their packaging to thank all those who worked on the front lines to help make sure no one was left behind.
Alongside wearing PPE, the Repsol Honda Team will also introduce a vigorous disinfecting routine while following all guidelines published by local authorities and Dorna. The LCR Honda Team and LAVOR have provided a number of Sanix Pro 14 disinfection backpacks and Microfoggers to guarantee all Honda working areas are safe and efficient places to work.
Both Repsol Honda Team riders will wear special helmets, to thank the hard work of doctors, nurses and all the people who changed their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Theses helmets will be auctioned off after the Spanish GP with money raised going to the Cruz Roja Responde.
