Adriaan_26 gains momentum in eSport championship hunt
A weekend of mixed results for the virtual Repsol Honda Team saw adriaan_26 take points off his title rival and close the championship gap to just 4.5 points.
It was another set of virtual races for the 2022 MotoGP eSport Championship, the 12 riders competing at Jerez and Austria as they crossed over the mid-point of the season.
Lining up in second place on the grid, just behind his brother on the LCR Honda, Adrian immediately found his pace around the Jerez circuit. Running steadily in third place, an unfortunate mistake saw the Repsol Honda Team rider drop out of podium contention and ultimately settle for ninth. A difficult result, but one that he was determined to put behind him in the coming race.
Race two started in a similar fashion as the two brothers again lined up nose to tail in first and second on the grid. Putting in a steady set of opening laps, adriaan_26 opened up a good amount of distance to the Suzuki of AndreaSaverei11 and was able to defend a solid second place to the line. Again, this allowed the Repsol Honda Team rider to make up yet more ground on his Yamaha rival and now just 4.5 points split the pair with two rounds and four races left in the 2022 series.

“Overall I have to be happy with how this event has gone because we are now closer to the top of the standings. It’s only 4.5 points so we are really in the fight. Of course I would have liked to have done better in the first race, the mistake cost us a podium but we recovered well in the second race. We keep training and stay motivated for the final four races!”
